At San Diego North Chamber of Commerce Annual Awards Dinner
August 12, 2010 Poway CA (North San Diego County) — San Diego North Chamber of Commerce honors Poway's own Sunshine Care
as its 2010 Small Business of the Year!
Sunshine Care was recently named the San Diego North Chamber of Commerce's Small Business of the Year.
(Small is defined as less than 100 employees.) Annually, the Chamber gives the award to a company with a
history of outstanding business practices in the San Diego North community. The award honors the
entrepreneurship, sustainability, productivity and effort put forth by the business, including efforts made to give
back the community.
Sunshine Care was recognized for their proven track record in each of the aforementioned categories. This year
Sunshine Care celebrated 20 years of steady growth and the grand opening of a new 24-bed facility, The Palms.
In 1990, Sunshine Care started with the belief that seniors in assisted living should remain a part of our vibrant
community! The Chamber expressed admiration for the organization's use of residential homes and first-rate
staff. They applauded Sunshine Care's volunteer-driven events and our weekly intergenerational program. They
also bragged about our "green" sustainability; acknowledging both our greenhouse/seed to table project and our
donation of land, water and surplus veggies to the non-profit "Backyard Produce"; which gives produce to local
needy families.
