The
name of the beautiful valley of Poway (Pau-wi)
is derived from the language of the Diegueno
and Luiseno Indians, who roamed the area for
several hundred years before the Spaniards
arrived. Today, this scenic community boasts
a population of more than 50,000 residents,
who are able to enjoy breathtaking mountain
views and mild weather year-round.
For residents of Sunshine
Care and their loves ones, it’s reassuring
to know that Pomerado
Hospital is across the way, adjacent
to our campus. The 107-bed, acute-care hospital
offers a full range of health care services.
For visitors, Poway has something
for just about everyone, whether it’s
taking a hike on one of the 30 spectacular
trails or seeing a Broadway musical in the
Poway Center for the Performing Arts. Old
Poway Park offers weekend train rides, a
farmers' market, old-fashioned shops, and
a museum. Catch a fish, play golf, rent
a paddleboat, have a picnic or enjoy a summer
concert at Lake Poway. Take a tour of a
winery and have fun at the Rodeo, street
fairs, Poway Days Parade, Old-Fashioned
Fourth of July, Christmas in the Park, or
Train Song Festival.
The community offers a wide
range of hotels and motels to meet your
needs. Click
